Mahtab Waseem wins Second Place at the North Central Branch ASM 2016 Meeting

Mahtab Waseem (Junior Chemical Engineering student) received a research travel award to attend the North Central Branch ASM 2016 Meeting. The 76th annual meeting of the NCB-ASM was held at Iowa State University on October 21-22, 2016. Mahtab won second place of the student competition for her “[Investigation of] the Potency and Biofilm Activity of Potential PTS Modulating Compounds.” Her study is funded by a NSF Research Initiation Award (RIA#1505301).

 

Mahtab was one of three Howard University undergraduate students to receive the research travel award. The other two recipients were Silwat Waseem and Morenike Olu (both students in the Department of Biology).
