The BEDD group held a Professional Development Day for high-school STEM educators from Friendship Public Charter School on October 5th, 2017. "Safety in the science classroom and laboratory" was the theme of the Day. Nineteen educators attended the event, which was held on Howard campus and featured
- a seminar presentation by Dr. Malaisamy Ramamoorthy (Lab Supervisor and EHS Officer, College of Engineering and Architecture): "Instituting Safety Culture in Academic Chemical Laboratories";
- a brief overview of research projects and student involvement in the BEDD lab; and
- tours of (i) chemical engineering labs, (ii) civil and environmental engineering labs, and (iii) the Interdisciplinary Research Building facilities at Howard.
